We are delighted to announce that our research programme, Exploring New Futures for Indonesian Objects: Dismantling Colonial Knowledge Production and Recovering Lost Histories and Memories, is now live on Instagram.
As part of our ongoing efforts to decolonize looted objects from Lombok, we believe that the growth of this project should not be exclusively accessed by consortium members, academia, or formal institutions. Knowledge production must be open, shared, and discussed beyond institutional walls. Therefore, we are committed to exposing our programme to broader society.
To make this possible, the consortium has created an Instagram account, @pastfutureheritage.ugm_, which has been publicly accessible since 13th February 2026. The Instagram account will serve as our platform to share our research process, research findings, part of interesting literatures and sources, to programmes open for public like seminar and summer school. This platform allows anyone to follow, learn from, and engage with our work freely.
Through this account, we aim not only to share our vision and research updates, but also to open opportunities for digital collaboration with broader communities to produce knowledge related to looted objects from Lombok. Thus, we hope that our social media will be new space for dialogue related to looted objects from Lombok. We want to create conversations around heritage that are more alive and more engaging, especially for younger generations who are actively shaping digital public sphere.
We warmly invite you to follow our Instagram page, engage with our posts, and contribute your thoughts through the comment sections.
